Romano, PhD\u003c\/b\u003e, is a professor of educational psychology in the Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology Program at the University of Minnesota. He is also a licensed psychologist, and served two terms on the Minnesota Board of Psychology. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e Dr. Romano received his undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees from LeMoyne College (Syracuse, NY), Pennsylvania State University, and Arizona State University, respectively. He is cofounder of the Prevention Section of APA Division 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology), and he was the recipient of the Prevention Section's inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e Dr. Romano has also been recognized for Distinguished Contributions to Counseling Psychology by the Society of Counseling Psychology (2010). Romano holds APA Fellow status in APA Divisions 17 and 52 (International Psychology). \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e Dr. Romano was chairperson of the work group that produced the \u003ci\u003eAPA Guidelines for Prevention in Psychology\u003c\/i\u003e. He has been principal investigator on several U.S. Department of Education school personnel training grants to promote safe and drug-free schools. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e Dr. Romano has received research awards from the American Counseling Association, and he has authored numerous publications on prevention.
